Crowns
A crown is a type of dental restoration that completely caps or covers the clinical crown (the part of the tooth you see when you look in your mouth). A crown is indicated when a tooth breaks or cracks, has a large broken down filling, extensive decay, and often when a tooth has had root canal treatment. A crown will strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure from further breakdown with great longevity. Materials used when teeth are restored with crowns are high strength porcelain or gold.
Veneers
Veneers are custom-made, custom-fit, very thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to your natural teeth. Veneers are an excellent way to correct minor tooth abnormalities such as chipped, stained, miss-aligned, or discolored teeth. They are also effective when it is necessary to alter the length or size of the teeth with minimized risk to your natural tooth structure. Veneers are conservative, long-lasting, and gorgeous restorations for many esthetic dental ailments.
Root Canal Treatment
In the center of your teeth there is the dental pulp which is commonly called the nerve. The pulp is made up of blood vessels and nerves. If the pulp tissue becomes highly irritated or infected you can experience pain and sensitivity to cold, hot, sweets and chewing. Sometimes constant aching pain, or swelling occur as well. Many things can cause the pulp of a tooth to become irritated or infected including decay, cracks or fractures, trauma and multiple dental procedures.
Root canal treatment includes removal of the infected pulp tissue, thorough disinfecting and cleaning of the root canal system and sealing the root canal system with a rubber like material called gutta percha. Typically a tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy needs to be restored with a crown to strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure.
Composite Resin Fillings
Composite resin fillings (tooth colored fillings) can be used to repair teeth that are affected by decay, cracks or fractures. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then replaced with a tooth colored composite filling. Because composite fillings are tooth colored they can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth and are excellent restorations for most conservative dental fillings. Composite fillings are bonded to the natural tooth structure, are very durable, and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
Replace Missing Teeth
Unfortunately, there are many reasons teeth need to be removed. In most cases it is important for your dental health to replace these missing teeth. Teeth are designed to support each other and if one or more are missing the surrounding teeth and your overall dental health is affected. Teeth adjacent to, or opposing, an area where a tooth has been lost can tip, drift and erupt into the open space. When teeth tip, drift and move into new places destructive stresses can be placed on all of your teeth, the surrounding gums and supporting bone. Missing teeth can also affect the way you chew, the way you speak and, in some cases, may affect your smile and self-image.
Bridges
A bridge (or fixed partial denture) is a fixed, or permanently cemented, restoration which spans or replaces space where one or more teeth are missing. A fixed bridge is cemented to the teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. A pontic crown (false tooth) replaces the missing tooth. The process of making a bridge is similar to that of a single crown because essentially, we are placing crowns on either side of the space left by the missing tooth, and the pontic crown (false tooth) is connected to the two crowns.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. The titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone and it integrates to the bone to create an excellent foundation for a prosthetic tooth. In addition to restoring the natural appearance of the smile, implants can preserve facial structure, by preventing bone resorption that naturally occurs when teeth are lost. Dental implants can anchor and support single crowns, multi-unit fixed bridges, and even partial and full dentures.
Dentures / Partial Dentures
A denture or partial denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. Dentures are usually fabricated from acrylic materials but may occasionally incorporate the use of other materials. A custom-made, properly fit denture or partial denture, can be completely inconspicuous and natural looking, and should be comfortable for chewing, as well as allowing for normal speech. In certain instances, dentures and partial dentures can be fabricated over implants to improve retention and stability of the prosthesis.
Dentures over a normal course of time will wear and need to be replaced or relined in order to keep the jaw alignment normal. The alignment will slowly change as the bone and gum ridges recede or shrink due to the extraction of the teeth. Regular dental examinations are still important for the denture wearer so that the oral tissues can be checked for disease or change.

Occlusal Appliance
An Occlusal Appliance, also known as a night guard or bite splint, is a device that is worn in the mouth at night to prevent wear from nighttime grinding and jaw clenching. The Occlusal Appliance acts as a barrier between your upper and lower teeth eliminating the damage caused by them rubbing together. Taking a proactive approach to eliminate or reduce tooth wear can prevent costly dental treatment in the future.
Making Your Dental Experience More Comfortable
We offer a variety of techniques to make your dental experience more comfortable. Nitrous Oxide is a gas, when mixed with oxygen, makes a person feel more relaxed. It is administered during your dental procedure and the minute you stop inhaling the gas the effects are gone. No need to have a driver. Once the gas is removed you are good to go about your day with no lasting effects. Another option is a prescription medication taken orally before your appointment. This type of medication does require help from a friend or family member to get you to and from your appointment safely. Additionally we offer headphones and ipod music/radio, bite blocks which help keep your jaw relaxed, neck pillows, blankets and very gentle hands. If you have a comfort request, please let us know!
